development
There are many factors and elements that contributed to the development of the Kosciuszko National Park (KNP). These are factors include essentials in the landscape such as fauna, flora and geological elements, cultural heritage and tourism.
Fauna
There is an abundance of fauna within KNP that were and still are rapidly becoming more and more endangered. This is a major factor in the decision to protect the environment in which they reside. Such examples include threatened frog species and the Mountain pygmy possum in which population numbers are currently flourishing from the work of volunteers and park rangers. |
Geological Elements
KNP is home to a wide range of soils and rocks which is largely responsible for the variety of plants, animals and other organisms that exist. It was important for the environment to keep these soils and rock intact to ensure the survival of these plants and animals. KNP is also home to a very impressive cave system in the south part of the park. Watch the youtube video to have a guided tour! |
